hey guys been a member on here for a wile but only just about to buy my first skoda of my own my gf has a fabia and i like it so im now getting shot of my mk4 gt tdi and getting a fabia vrs any way as i have played with my mk4 a lot im thinking of going down same route with me fabia and fitting a gt 2260 etc but first off has anyone fitted climate control to a fabia if so how hard is it or will i be the first?

Correction - full climate control is not available on any Fabia vRS - the other thread explains that it has a half'n'half system with a single temperature detector and a centigrade graduated temperature knob.

I find it works reasonably well - the odity some people can't fathom is that when it's cold outside you get hot air out of the vents even if the knob is set low, until the cabin warms up to the set temperature - then the air flow cools to the expected temperature (I admit some cars suffer from faulty flaps in this context but the inherent varying temperature is still to be expected in a car working normally).

I'd suggest retro-fitting full climate in a Fabia vRS would not be a particularly effective or easy modification...

Yeah. It would be far more involved than just replacing the control panel... :S

The "Climatic" ? (rather than climotronic??) system works fantastically.

My kn0b never seems to really move much between 18 - 22. And it doesn't really need to.. all depends on what i'm wearing than what's going on out side the car.

The directional kn0b tends to sit on screen and feet.. if it really hot than maybe the vents in the dash as well.. or to speed up a screen clear than full screen.

Sometimes they can get a bit iffy if the temp sensor gets all covered up with dust.. my vRS had this, I took the trim of from around the kn0bs and it was completely encased in dust.. once it was blown away it work faultlessly again.

All the more advanced system really does is decide where the air should be blown.. but with it on feet and windscreen your pretty much covered.

I find it can be a hinderance having the Climatronic mode anyway. As Rob said, just leave it aimed at screen and feet and all is good. With the digital mode when the screen mists up you have to take your eyes off the road to find the button for the front screen, then limit the fan speed and change the temperature. It was so much easier with the dials IMO, although I do prefer this system the rest of the time, just for clearing the screen it's not as easy.

So you are upgrading from a Mk4 to a VRS, just as I did. Engine mods would be the same as yer Mk. 4, brakes and suspension are sometimes different. Going for Climatic a/c seems to be too involved and expensive so spend yer money elsewhere. Find a good VRS, there are plenty about and I guess you know what to look for. I found that VRS's were holding there value better than Mk4's oddly. One small bonus was the ins. gp. is 9 for a VRS when the Mk 4 was 11 or 13 depending on who you insured it with.

For technical help there is ooddles of helpful people on Briskoda and I still occasionally have a gander on Mk4-s Forum and seatcupra.net.

i just want to fit it to be different i suppose and as i have a mate who likes odd ball challanges where wiring and coding is involved i may as well have a go i specked my golf right up

Fabia may be a lower insurance group than a golf but for some reason my golf came back £30 cheaper, probaly coz a lot of the spotty brigade are buying the vrs

I went the other way and chopped my fabia in for a golf :)
