Anyone seen Apples website featuring the new MAC MINI

Was having a bucthers around the site at work today, and have to say I am very impressed with it. Prices start from

yeah iv seen it would fit nicely in the car ;)

looks nice, the new ipod memory stick thing also looks good!

It looks very nice, but once you start adding options it quickly turns very expensive.

especially when you add a decent monitor.

Anyone know what resolution it would run a normal TV at?

If you went for the wireless keyboard/mouse and dvi->tv adaptor, the price wouldn't be too bad. External powersupply means very low noise, so perfect for sticking under the telly :)

its

Its sooo smaaall... I really wish I could find an excuse for getting one of these. A little note to anyone who is thinking of getting one though: Don't forget there is only one memory slot, and trying to use OS X with 256MB RAM is painful. The Apple Store say 50 quid for the upgrade to 512MB, which is extortionate, but cheaper than buying a new stick from elsewhere and doing nothing with the old stick; so worth doing.

Also, Apple keyboards are real nice, but the one-button mouse with no wheel is crappy so avoid the keyboard+mouse bundle. Go with the Apple keyboard on its own for 19 quid if you need it. I do believe Microsoft make a nice white version of their optical mouse which has all the buttons and matches nicely.

The Mac mini is such a neat little toy - 340 quid, and its virtually the same spec as my Powerbook - just missing a few bits.

Or buy a stick o 512 PC2700 from ebay and if you have a pc, stick the 256 in your pc :).

I'd second the mouse and keyboard.

Its mainly sold as a conversion from pc to mac, but it wont "convert" us all, it will only add another machine to our lives :) Cant really play my games on a mac

Yeah, totally, or eBuyer. Gotta be careful though and make sure whatever you buy is definately the right stuff.

For example, G5's are really picky on what memory they accept, they take PC3200 memory, but *only* at (really lame) 3-3-3-8 timings. Put in PC3200 memory that has any other SPD timings and the machine just beeps at you, displays a message and ignores the stick.

I'd imagine the mini behaves in the same way? In any case, I'm sure it will be the same stuff as what goes into the (also 1.25GHz G4) eMac, which means you want Crucial CT6464Z335. Thats eBuyer Code 42149 and a snip at 50 quid + delivery for the DIMM.

A new stick of 512 PC2700 can be had for under 50 quid and you can sell the old 256 on Ebay for 25 quid quite easily
