Arch rolling & pulling - anyone done a mk2?

Featured Replies

I might need to do this soon. Anyone done it? Any pics?

Yeeee-ikes! :o You going for 20's?

I had this done back in the day on my (then new) mk3 Golf GTI 16v.

Helped, but didn't solve the problem fully unfortunately.

Lessons learned:

1. buy the wheels with the correct offset in the first place,

or

2. having ****ed up on point #1 above, don't expect to slam it AND be able to do around corners.

:p

HTH.

Likewise but with a MK2 Gol 16V ;)

Just down the way from where I live there is a dual carriageway with a slight dip as you cross a bridge on a curve portion of the road. Every time I went along doing 70+ the car would bounce low and the tyres would still rub the arch and even have lumps of rubber chewed off!!

I'd avoid, but it depends on what you're wanting to achieve? :)

Yup, same for me, it's the compression in dips more than the bumps that do it.

I'm definitely going down to 215s when I put my CHs back on. Trouble is I may have to run 3mm spacers to get clearance over the 996 turbo callipers which will negate the gains I get on the tyre width drop. I'll see how it goes and do the arches if needs be.

I hope it goes without saying that raising it up isn't an option. :p B)
