Haldex Oil Change

Featured Replies

I'm due for a Haldex oil change in the scout.

Is it a DIY job? I've searched the forums but can't find any details on how to do it.

Any pointers would be great

cheers

Octavia II is haldex 2 (or 4) so doesnt have a replaceable filter.

Changing the oil is fairly straight forward providing you can get right under the back of the car. A syringe or an oil can with a pipe on it will fill it, may well take some time though.

Oil is drained out of a bolt at the front edge of the coupling and refilled on a bung on the side. When the oil runs out of the bung, level is correct.

Referring to the previous post, I am slightly confused, as I have bought a filter and it is waiting to be fitted when I try to change the oil in my haldex. As far as I can recollect, there are two different tyoes of Haldex, and the Elsawin shows how to change the oil. It involves a pipe and overflow system as has been mentioned.

Octavia 2 has a foam scrubber internal to the coupling and doesn't get changed. If you have a spin on filter that's wrong, if you have oil in a tube then that is also wrong.

Hi,

I have an 06 1.9 4x4 Tdi Octy, and had the Haldex oil changed recently. I didn't think I could do it myself. The invoice includes a filter as well as the oil; so a filter was changed on mine.

cheers

Ian

The Haldex 1 system has an oil change every 20k and a oil and filter every 40k. The later systems just have an oil change at 40k, i've never changed a filter nor seen one. On the Octavia 2 launch course they said it didnt need to be changed but i'll have a look.
