Anyone got any ideas why my 1.9 diesel engine trys to jump out of the engine bay when it first fires up ?It starts first turn of the key but it jumps about when it first fires but as soon as its going its ok .If its an engine mounting how would i know which one it could be ?????

to check mount on an older car id normally use a long pry bar and move it around on them and look for excessive movement they do jump about a bit when first fired anyway

it's most likely to be the rear mounting on the bottom/back of the gearbox

Other possibilities being that the car needs a general tune-up, or the engine is afraid of your driving!
