New car, at last.

Featured Replies

Just got myself a 56 plate, Octavia estate 1.9tdi. I'll try to post some pictures, but I always have issues.

Looking forward to getting more than 33mpg that I get from my V40.

I was after an Elegance, but as I was buying from auction so beggers can't be choosers. There was an Elegance there but my Ambient was so much better, better tyres, nicer wheels, newer, longer MoT, better condtion, better colour and nicer beige interior. It has parking sensors too.

Are there any easy mods that can be done to improve the spec further? I'd like to add front fogs and perhaps improve the interior trim. Anyone recommend me anything.

Cheers BBD.

Some pictures would be great.

The best way is to open an account (free) with Photobucket.

After you have securely downloaded your pictures you will see a 'Direct Link' option next to each image. Copy this link.

Click the Insert image button at the top of your post and paste the link into the pop up box.

Voila!

Good buy by the way, what made you buy from auction, do you think that you got a better price from auction?

Can I ask how many miles and how much you paid? It would be nice to see how much can be saved through auctions...

It's done 90k, has fsh, 1 fleet owner, mot 09/11. Very good clean car. All in cost me just over £4200. I guess I've saved about £500 - £1800 depending on which prices you look at. 5 octys to chose from, the elegance sold for £4650.

I'd like to fit fog lights and a better centre console with armrest and storage. Any ideas?

Hi BigBaddad, I think we went to the same auction, was it BCA near Bedford? If you bought the Octavia Classic with parking sensors I must say you have done a good deal on that one. I was quite tempted by it, nice condition and nice interiors, so congrats!

A few suggestions that you asked for.

How about a H/U upgrade ( POD compatible - & if you have one), the speakers should be O.K. ?

How about a jumbo box ?

Retro fit cruise ( if it wasnt specced already) ?

Jumbo box..yes please.

H/U = head unit? Have a pod, thinking of using one of those little transmitter/chargers that plug in. My head unit say MP3 Stream? anything useful?

Never use cruise on my V40....tended to use more fuel and roads never clear enough just to leave it on. But if it's simple I might just try it.
