Amazing photos and amazing birds. Wonderful. What kit were you using out of interest.

My sister is in Australia at the moment, she has been for 9 months. I'm picking her up from the airport in a couple of weeks but she doesn't really want to come back. I want to go out there.

Excellent photos!

When I visited Queensland and Brisbane I found the wildlife fascinating.

Great shots..... The first one is an absolute cracker.

Out of interest you wouldn't have a hi-res copy available would you??? Would look great on my 1920x1200 desktop.

Cheers

Dave.

The first was a D50 and the others were a D300. For lenses they range from 55-200, 16-85 and 70-200.

It's fairly heavily cropped by it just happens that the original is 1998x1328 so if you are serious PM me an email address and I will send you the file.

BTW here is another typically Australian thing. You will hear the sound of Cicada's all over Australia in summer.

Cool, I used to have a D50 but now have the D5000. I also have the 16-85mm lens, not a lens you really hear much about. No one had one in stock but it seemed a really good lens for the money without going for an expensive F2.8 lens. Used to have the 55-200mm too but now have the 70-300mm. Couldn't afford the 70-200mm! They're some really good photos, especially the first one if it's taken with a D50 - which is a camera you can get very cheaply now.

I heard my first cicada of the summer this week in Wellington - must be warming up for summer!

Really nice ... love the first one! Have to say I'm a bit biased, though, because I love kookaburras (my local zoo has a bunch of them, and they just have so much personality, much like the meerkats).

Yup, it's actually a great lens (from what I've seen, other than build, f/2.8 and out-of-focus rendering, you don't lose much/anything compared to the 17-55mm, and it's actually better for landscapes due to lower field curvature).

now have the 70-300mm. Couldn't afford the 70-200mm!

That's another really nice lens - it's not as good as the 70-200mm (I just has a different look), but it is close! (I have both).

Hey good pics - but what's up with the screen name? Are you an Aussie or Kiwi? :)

My passports say NZ and I support the All Blacks but I have lived in Australia since 1984.
