Settings for aggressive wheel alignment?

Featured Replies

Anyone ever set up a Fabia (or similar) for a more aggressive wheel alignment, compared to manufacturer oem. I am getting a wheel alignment done tomorrow afternoon and would be interested to know what deviations away from manufacturers spec will make the car handle better on the limit, and how this can be achieved? :) A graph/printout of a great performance wheel alignment setup would be great. ;)

If you look on Whitelines site they do list setting for some cars. Last time I looked their was nothing for the fabia platform but from looking at other hatchbacks they seem to suggest neutral toe instead of the oem toe in. As it's a fabia the only thing you can change is the front toe :(

As you have a pd100 rear axle you should have less toe in compared to us vRS owners :(

I did have some camber adjust plates to try and sort out the back end, but I've gone and lost them at my mate's garage. :( :(

Neutral toe means the wheels are pointing more ahead, than in, right?

Yep, directly ahead - both wheels will run parallel to each other, compared to the standard toe in.

indeedy, but be careful with tyre wear.

I think optimally for handling a fwd should run between 1 and 2 degrees toe out, but it will most likely rip the inside of the tyre to shreds, let alone the other comprimises.

If you do a lot of miles id keep an eye on the tyres if you even go straight. I tend to run 1.5 degrees IN to look after the tyres for road use but may give 0 a go as the car does more track miles than road now.

Is the camber adjustable on fabias?

Most VAG cars are 0 degrees toe in but due to many a car wandering to the left from the VW stable a small adjustment to the toe in overcomes this. Camber is not adjustable on our Fabias unless aftermarket camber bolts or shims are fitted.

I'm sure the fabia is toe in of around 10 total. 22 total rear.

This was the details from one of my previous alighments.

Toe:

Front total 10' Left 05' Right 05'

Rear total 22'. Left 09' Right 13'

Camber

Front Left -.52' Right -.42'

Rear Left -1.33' Right -1.26'

Castor

Left 4.41' Right 4.36'

You should start by asking yourself what you want to change about the way the car handles?
