How long ?

Featured Replies

With the long periods from ordering to delivery at the moment, how long is it currently until a newly ordered car, specifically the Yeti, is actually given a build week? Appreciate at that stage it would only be a provisional one and subject to change.

Hi Bassa,

ordered Monster III first week of this month and given a provisional March / April delivery date. No news on build date however I'm in no particular rush as I'd prefer it to be a 11 plate anyway.

TP

Same with mine and I do not want it until March but I wondered how long before it actually appears on Skoda's system showing the provisional build week.

The increase in Yeti production at the Kvasiny plant from January could change any initial predictions of course.

Afternoon,

I ordered mine 16th October with an original delivery date of mid/late Feb. However just had call from dealer saying it should be with them by the end of the year!

Hey - that's a good result - my 170 Elegance ordered early August hasn't even got a build date! emoticon-0106-crying.gif

What a shambolic set up - Grrr!

Wow, that's a lot quicker than predicted.

In that case, perhaps TP & myself had better try to add the panoramic roof as delaying tactics :giggle:

Do you have a build week showing on their system?

Good Idea regarding the roof, as I was getting used to the idea of trying to ensure mine was on an 11 plate. Although the heated screen and seat will be welcomed through this winter.

Didn't get or ask for a build date as he caught me on the hop a bit. Trying not to get too excited, as I still think it might be a mistake. I'll try to go and see him on Saturday to see the whites of his eyes as I get a build date.

Well now I'm totally confused

I ordered my SM on 11 October through DtD and posted recently that I was told by dealer that build week was week 11/2011. When I spoke to SUK on another matter they told me week 11 was 14 March with delivery approx. 9th to 16th April. Two options......heated windscreen & spare tyre.

Now The Heff is saying he ordered his a few days shortly after me and he has been told his will be here before the end of the year!

To The Heff........where do you reside, who did you order through and what spec/options are you going for?

Really curious how all this works!!!!!!!

Do I need to get my money ordered from the bank earlier and get a plane ticket booked to London?

Or is it just that The Heff has managed to beat the system? :envy:

The 170 Elegance must be a rare beast - sorry, monster :dull:

Ahhh but he didn't say which year did he  My 170 Elegance ordered 24th September, told to expect mid Feb (so I'll hold out for an 11plate before picking up), no further contact to suggest otherwise and of course I'm not expecting any. I cannot realistically see that altering much even with the predicted January increase in production but I will give the dealer a call tomorrow just in case. Given that Autoexpress has recently run an article confirming the huge delays (agreed by Skoda) I cannot see that the wait has reduced that much. It could simply be that you have a spec that is a cancelled order, or that the 170 is the cause of the backlog or simply that you are one extremely lucky.......individual

Hi,

think your long wait may be down to the high demand throughout the VAG group for the DSG box.

Notice other posters have 170's on order, be interesting to know exact spec's and colours as these can also effect build date.

edit: oh I have ordered a humble 110 4x4 (to replace my 140 4x4; more total madness :D ) with heated screen, RRP, TPM, spare and Anna alloys in a rather fetching white finish B)

Regards,

TP

The news came as a surprise to me and until I have spoken to Clocks garage in Derby, when I have a bit more time, to findout how an initial mid - January when everyone else was saying mid-February has now turned into before the end of the year.

The spec I have gone for are - Storm Blue, heated windscreen, sat nav, anna alloys, RRP, TPM & Silver roof rails. I am also getting the dealer to fit the silver wing mirror covers, bumper trim and probable the side step from Cobra.

I have not done anything special in the ordering process as far as I am aware to cut my waiting time and too be honest I would possible prefer a 2011 plate (although I think I have been telling myself that to prevent frustration at the wait). As TP (the pedestrian) said, I can only think it may be a cancelled order or possible a reject by someone else. Unless my dealer has managed to pull a few strings as I have fixed the price on my trade in.

If/when I can findout more I will let you know.

referring to the engine size of Monster III or the fact I'm without wheels from next week :wonder: or possible both :giggle:

Hey, don't give credit to TP when it was me that said it might be a cancelled order, he gets far too much credit already :giggle: On the trade-in element, it's possible I guess but I'm in the same position with my trade-in - my dealer has given me a fixed price for my Cashcow for an expected hand-over in November (2010!). Bearing in mind I ordered in September I thought he was being over generous but if they didn't know the leadtime position that's not my problem. Of course he is well aware now and I do not see him rushing around trying to advance my order, perhaps you just have a very special dealer

When I looked at the dealer two weeks ago he showed me correspondance from Skoda showing current estimated delivery dates of end of May 2011. We agreed a trade in based on having to wait 6 months. Now I have placed my order they are quoting build in week 3 of January! Mine is a 170 with heated screen, RRP, stereo upgrade and front parking sensors. Time to renegotiate the trade in perhaps?

Hi TP it's defiantly refers to your new mode of transport after you have handed the keys of Pat over to James ;)

When did you order? Was that just the two weeks ago? If the dealer is right then that's looking at delivery the same time as mine although I ordered some 6 weeks earlier with very similar specs. I think i'll give up second guessing Skoda. If yours does arrive that much earlier than expected then I would renegotiate your trade in.

Edit: this might be explained by there being a gap in the 170 production line in the 3rd week of Jan for cars with similar specs. So you could well have been slotted in.

Dealer and SUK have confirmed that I my Yeti is showing as build week 48, but can not explain why it is a lot shorter than originally thought. They have both however said it can still move but is unlikley at this late stage.

So with a bit of luck the Derbyshire dales should become my snowy play ground this winter rather than having to wait till next

Well Heff - you are indeed a lucky man!

Mine* ordered on 9 August still hasn't got a build date! (Confirmed by SUK this morning)

CRAZY - and very annoying emoticon-0106-crying.gif

So the sun is smiling on TP again with a (relatively) quick build  Mine ordered 24th Sept, due mid Feb. But then I have got the best of the bunch in the 170 so just have to wait for quality I guess  (yes, read between the line, I'm pig sick!)

Hi

It better not move forwards or you could have problems with your 11 plate if, as I've been told, it has to be registered within 10 days of arriving at the dealer.

Must be nearly time for PAT to go. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Good luck

Fred
