Featured Replies

Hey all,

Has anyone had to replace a camshaft on the MKII vRS ? if so any idea on the price of the part itself or part no ????

What year?

Part No.s are (For a BWA Engine)

Inlet Camshaft - 06F 109 101 B - Approx £220

Outlet Camshaft - 06F 109 102 B - Approx £220

So for both you would be looking at around £450

Awesome fella thank you, !!! Luckily it's just the one that is faulty, at least I have an idea of the price before the garage attempts to take the **** !!

That price is just for the Part. It's listed in ETKA as £217.83 inc of 17.5% VAT but i have found sometimes it is out by a few quid.

As for labour i have no idea as to what it will cost.

Out of interest is in the inlet cam that is knackered? If so has it become damaged on the fuel pump lobe, assuming you have the original 1 piece cam?

It is the inlet cam as far as I'm aware, basically the cog on the end of the cam that has the chain connected to it is loose, it's a very rare fault, VW Wolfsburg HQ have only heard of it happening once before about 3 years ago on a MkV Golf GTI it's got nowt to do with the lobe as far as the VW garage are aware. It allowed the inlet valves to be open very slightly which in turn gave no compression on all 4 cylinders. It took them 10 working days to diagnose the problem :-( however all I'm having to pay for is the parts at cost including the lifters as some of them have been damaged :-)
