Hi all, I did an oil change the other day on my MK1 VRS, when i filled it up, I put 4.5 litres in. (unfortunatly just dumped it all in at once cos i was getting tired) 4.5 is what i used last time and i'm sure its right. but the level on my dipstick is about half an inch above the top level indicator!

I,ve not checked it stone cold in the morning but even half an hour after my engine is off it is still showing this high. Anyone have any ideas?, i did just replace the dipstick tube but i'm certain its the right one it matched up to the 2 broken parts of the old one perfectly and it is on all the way (oil would show too low if it wasnt).

Is it possible i've made a mistake fitting my oil filter so its not filling up? surely that would mean its blocked and would cause an oil pressure warning light. Have used the car all week and it feels fine.

The old oil that was drained out filled the tub just over 4 litres, i figuered the rest was in the old filter, soaked into the mat on the floor and all over my hands.

I'm just gonna check that the metal part of my dipstick is not falling out of the plastic handle or something stupid.
