Octavia bike carrier boot mounted

Featured Replies

I've seen recommendations on this site for towbar and roofbar mounted carriers - can anyone suggest a good carrier that mounts on the back of the saloon model?

Many thanks!

Due to the slope of the rear hatch and profile I have not seen a boot mounted bile rack that looks secure for the Octy. The best options are really roof rack mounted or towbar mounted ones. Since I do not have a towbar I went the roofrack route and this gives a very secure fitting that will not damage the car in anyway. Also gives me a roofrack for my windsurfing board etc.

I fitted the Thule carrier which I find excellent There is a Utube video showing fitting of the various models. It is worth watching.

I tried the Saris Bones on my vRS hatch and it fit like a glove , nice big chunky rubber feet on it too so no damage to the paint work , and it fits over the boot spoiler no problems & very secure . . .

+1 I've got one and it fits my fl vrs perfectly!

Hey Guys Sorry for bringing up an old thread,

Looking for one of these Bike racks for my Octy. Its a pre facelift 2007 without a spoiler. Looking at the Saris Bones 3. Is this what you have? And any of you guys got pictures of it fitted? As Saris say its not compatible with the Octy hatch.

Thanks

I have the saris bones 3 for when i had my fabis but it does catch the spoiler on my 2012 vrs but only slightly plus I'm not comfortable with the metal hooks on top of the glass so if you can try one before you buy I strongly recommend it incase it might catch on the spoiler

Oops just read your post again. Mine will fit perfect if the spoiler wasn't there so won't be a problem but definitely try one first if you can

I use a Halfords 3 bike hatch mount carrier its very stable has bobbins that fit inside car, very adjustable and has worked perfectly ok, no issues.

I've scratched two cars with boot mounted carriers (ok, might be a crap carrier or poorly fitted, but either way..) so I won't use one now - I always put the bikes on the roof.

Will see if the local halfords have one that I can test. You say that its got metal hooks on the glass?

I've been tempted by this as well, as it will allow me access to the boot at the same time! Any links to where you got yours from?!

OE skoda roof bars (about 100 quid i think) supplied by the dealer when the car was new, plus thule pro-ride carriers bought for cash money from my local friendly bike shop - always good to support local peeps.

:)
