Felicia l 1.3 fuel issue

Featured Replies

hi all,

i recently brought a felicia l 1.3l 1999, its in absolute mint condition no rust no damage only done 44k with one owner before my who actually brought the car off my brother from new (he is a skoda dealer)

now i have been driving around in this last few days and notice that im only getting about 100miles per 1/2 tank working that out into miles per pound its 5miles per pound or roughly 20-25mpg now this seems really low to me i was told to expect 40-45mpg

does anyone know any reason that im getting such low mileage?

Lots of possible reasons.

Have you checked for petrol tank leaks.

When was it serviced last.

Check for brakes binding or wheel bearing issues.

How hot/smooth/fast is it running.

44k over 11 years it not a lot. The engine could be coked up; I would give it several long motorway runs after adding some RedEx to the tank if non of the above seem probable.

And Yeah, 40-45 should be attainable; teaching my son to drive in a 98 (S) 1.3Gli estate we were averaging 48.9mpg. Even lead footing it around town after passing his test, he was still getting low 40's.

the car was motted and services less than 2 weeks ago by a skoda dealership so all is good there no leaks in the tank area, it did havew ab issue with the wheel bearings but that was rectified again by the dealership

in regards to the hot/smooth/fast is it running i have no idea i have only recently passed my test and am car illiterate so im gueesing your talking engine temp which from guage doesnt get over half way up smooth?? fast is that idle speed?

i am planning on filling the tank and redexing next weekend and doing a long drive to get an absolute figure and see if anything changes

thanks for the help
