vRS Brace Yourself!

Featured Replies

I know some people do this mod, for the sake of saying they have done this mod....and well im one of those peopel haha

What I would like to know from you kind people is. WHAT! Brace is your weapon of choice and also were to get one of a good price. They seem to be about £60! Which seems a tad expensive :S

And before people come in YES I will be getting a rear anti roll bar to at somepoint :D

Thank you for anyhelp

forget the friont strut brace (i presume thats what you mean) as its purely for decorative purposes (be honest - how often do you show people your 1.9TDI lump!) until you stiffen up everything else on front end and save for the Jabba RARB as its the best ~£200 you'll spend on the car. Transforms cornering from bad to just about bareable (!).

You are quiet right it is for decorative purposes usually, HOWEVER still makes me want one. And as for the suspension should be swopping all struts and springs at some point so the anti roll bar will come

I have to be arnest I dont think its a bad handling car, its not the suet pudding my old car was.

well, the handling thing is very subjective and as you say compared to other cars for similar money its not too bad. But is heavy, and understeers when pushed. However it has been rightfully placed in the mild hot hatch category and so against other similar powered petrol equivalents it struggles. Each to their own though. I loved mine so much. When mapped no car i have driven has same punch 20-40mph or generally in gear. Comfortably easier to access power than my mapped Octy. Enjoy!

PS the seta strut brace is worth waiting for someone to come and sell on here, or look out on ebay. They can be had for £30 or so and rarely need respraying as they are well protected and rarelt damaged.

I have front upper and lower strut braces fitted, whiteline rear arb and uprated dampers and shocks, lowered about 25mm I believe and I don't rate the handling on the car at all, it still rollers quite badly.

Next thing I'm gonna do is get some coilovers and hopefully that will help with the body roll.

But I'm comparing the vrs to a Satria gti which was my last car, that was the best handling car I have driven. But it's hard to compare the both as the satria is known for it's handling and the vrs isn't

I'd disagree that it's only for decorative purposes.

I had mine put on at the same time as uprating the console bushes to cupra & powerflex ones; and the front end was soooo much more tied down than ever before.

Although how much was bush (oh-er missus) and how much was brace I can't be sure

the car has bags of grip, yes theres quite alot of body roll but the car grips brilliantly, and yes it does push the nose out on tight bends but on winding roads the cars drives great tbh.
