Rear tyre Clearance (side to side) Any advice?

Featured Replies

I've recently began using my felly for a bit of towing. It performs surprisingly well and if I'm honest it's surprised me. However just to help with the whole towing process I've fitted rubber spring assisters to the rear shocks just to lift it a bit and help the ride hight when towing.

Only problem is the clearance between the tyre sidewall and the spring assisters fitted to the shocks is about a fingers width. Is this an issue? Will there be much flex in that direction or as long as it's not touching it's fine? The assisters don't really stick out much more than the shocks them selves, maybe 5mm max extra?

(for your info, the felly has 15" alloy wheels (correct fitting etc, ie I've not got the spacing wrong!) I'm guessing this raises where the tyre wall is a little.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

there shouldn't be any sideways movement.. a fingers-width of clearance is perfectly fine

I thought that would be the case. Thanks Tom you are a gentleman and a scholar!
