Do you use the fog lights all the time? Or only when foggy?

If it's all the time it's illegal and looks pathetic, like a 17 year old boy racer that think it looks cool lol.

Na i am afraid i'm passed all that boy racer **** (to old for all that bo***cks) No seriously joking apart i only use them when its foggy or i might use them occasionaly on unlit country roads, ive just got the HIDs fitted and the extra light they emit is brill so i was thinking of fitting some different foggy bulbs but dont know which to go for. P.S wish i was 17 again and know what i already know lol.Phil.

Why do you care about the look then?

The more yellow the fog lights, the better they will be in fog; as the whiter the light, the more it reflects back off the fog.

I've got some LEDs for my sidelights and uprated the main beams with philips extremes (I already have xenons for the dipped), but I left the fogs as I was told the originals work better than white ones, which throw off a lot of glare in fog.

+1

the whiter the foglight, the less it serves its true purpose.

if anything, i'd put a set of phillips xtreme in there. more lumens than stock.

You'll be pushed to get anything none standard in there due to the type of bulb.

If you're worried perhaps get some yellow film for the fogs, so that rather than looking off white, it's clear they are not meant to.

the vrs foggies use a standard "h7" - nothing fancy about that.

plenty of h7 globes out there...including the phillips xtremes.

i've heard good reviews about the bosch globes too.

I have put a set of Halfords all weather bulbs in my fogs, the produce what can best be described as a rainbow affect, the light looks greeny/yellowy as they have specific colour filters in for bad weather.

I must say iv not had a chance to test them in the octy yet but in the past they have been very good!

Its something called choice my friend, it wouldn't do for everyone to do, or like, or agree on the same thing.

My 08 plate vrs front foglamps has got 12volt 55watt H1 bulbs fitted as standard. The H7 is fitted to the headlamp dipped beam.

The FL vRS Octavia Fog light housing uses HB4 bulbs and the standard FL Octavia H8 bulbs.

As you dont state what year your car is, I fear I cannot be of further help, except to recommend MTEC bulbs...whatever the fitting is

EDIT: Just read youve got an 08 model

why not yellow? They used to be very common from memory.

Has the new Furby vRS got LED fogs?

Not sure if the new Fabia vRS has front fogs anymore, think they get LED DRL's that use the old fog light apertures?

i'd stay away from anything with a blue coating on the globe.

that is correct - hb4 - they don't use h7 like i previously stated. my bad :(

:o IIRC they weren't very blue? Output is 4350K too-more whitish than blue-more OE looking.

What's with the blue coating then?

i'm not talking bout the light u see.

if u look at the globe in the mtec link - u'll c its got a blue coating - this is wat gives the whiteish "xenon look".

the blue coat essentially masks the color spectrum of the light being output by the otherwise 'yellowish' globe.

u'll notice the downside to that in wet conditions - the "whiteish xenon look" output is ineffective, hence poorer visibility.

Ahh, right. Do you get rain in OZ then?

Thankfully I don't have to rely on my foglights too often.
