Dpf removal on a cr 170 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all was wondering if there is a dpf removal pipe for the cr engines or even a full exhaust?

I want a dpf and a map but dont know if there is such a thing for the cr engines as all the

kit i have been looking at is mostly for the pd engines. Mine is a fl 2010 vrs any help

or tips will be much appreciated :)

thanks Gareth

Shark Performance offer this. They basically strip off the DPF and then take all the filter bit out then put it back. They then map out the light and stop the regen cycle.

That last bit is why I'm putting it off. I have a spare DPF sitting in the garage ready to be gutted and fitted but when I was talking to Ben at Shark about it he said that there was significant chance of fire if the car was driven with the stock map as the DPF regen occasionally dumps a load of fuel into the exhaust to heat it up and burn off the accumulated soot. If there is no filter or soot to heat up then it could catch fire. It's very common for the dealers to flash the maps on cars with very long service intervals (19,000 miles/2 years on the CR170) as there are often software updates to be applied. So there is a good chance that you'd not be able to drive the car back to Shark to be remapped if the dealer flashed the map at a service.

So until there is a plug-in remapping tool for the CR170, I'm not doing it.

Other than gaining approx 15bhp extra you do not need to remove the DPF on the CR engines, they run much cleaner than the old PD engines and therfore don't suffer the problems that the PD's do with the DPF becoming clogged, yes you may gain a bit extra power but you lose the very clean and smoke free nature of the CR plus losing your DPF from what I have seen on here and other forums can make the car a bit smelly with strong diesel smells after a good blat!. Try a remapped CR WITH a DPF.....you will be VERY impressed! :giggle:
