When is a mod not a mod?

I can only give you the 'stictly speaking answer' . All changes made to a vehicle from when it left the factory need to be declared to the insurer. If you are unsure then it is best to contact your insurer and ask.

Some changes are a bit of a grey area, eg replacement parts which are not OEM but as I say, make sure you check, ignorance will not help in the event of a claim.

Not sure that matters really when you are obtaining legal cover. My company mainly deal with modified cars and even with huge spec lists we can usually quote within 10 minutes.

As an aside to this thread, I found Sky very good when insuring a modified car ( Ollie was particularly helpful, although some of his colleagues don't know their ar5e from their elbowl ) but worse than useless when insuring a standard car.

Horses for courses peeps...

Atm I am with Direct Line for the wifes car, the cheapest by far, and very good with claims. and with Admiral for my car ( they are the best up to press for added young drivers )

I would not hesitate to use Sky in the future when /if I get another modified car, but I always ask/inform them of any modifications, and they usually come up trumps.
