Fabia 1.9TDi Comfort Remote Locking

Featured Replies

When I bought my Comfort it only came with 1 key which has a small light in it, but doesnt work as remote central locking. Is this just the spare key I have? Is it ment to come with remote central locking?

My wife's (petrol) Comfy has two keys, and both operate the RCL???

Hmmm, do you know any way of finding out if I have remote locking?

Hi, what year is your car?

Mine is a late 2001 (and it is a comfort), it came with two keys, one with a push button for the little led light, the other just a key. The remote central locking on mine is a separate fob - but it is genuine skoda - one bigger button which locks and unlocks everything at a single push and a smaller button which only pops the tailgate very slightly.

If that remote hadn't been there i would never have known that the central locking could be operated remotely. Had been hunting on eBay for a spare remote but none of the ones i have seen are the same type - which is a shame as part of the booklets for the car Skoda helpfully included a guide to slave further remotes!

Depending on how old the car is (newer models than mine seem to have a different arrangement) you may have to try and borrow a remote from someone to see if it works. (and if anyone has an older style fob that they wish to sell - please let me know!!)

Mines also a late 2001, I don't know anyone else with a Skoda tbh. Do you think if I went to a Skoda main dealer they could tell me if I have remote locking?

My wife's is a 51-plate, and both keys look like this:

Your best bet is probably to look on here, using the long code in your manual or under the boot carpet:

Mines also a late 2001,

Unfortunately I don't have a Fabia brochure that old yet (though I'm pondering getting one off Ebay since [a] they're pretty cheap and I can't find a PDF version anywhere). My earliest brochure is the pre-facelift 05/04 edition and this certainly lists the Comfort spec level as having remote central locking - which was standard on all models at that time except the "Classic" (unless fitted with the "Plus Pack")
