Having problems resetting Service light (Spanner)

Featured Replies

Hi!

I'm having troubles resetting the service interval spanner on the dashboard, I've just done my annual service today (plus put on sexy new discs & pads), but cannot figure out how to reset it. I had this problem last year too, but I did the service at my friends garage, so we used his plug in tool (ooh-err) to reset it - he couldn't do it without.

I've followed the manuals instructions, which don't work, or I'm doing it wrong - hold down odometer reset button with ignition off, turn ign. on, still holding down reset, see spanner with -600, then spanner & clock with -39. Letting go of the button seems to do nothing at any stage..

I've looked on here for answers, but I'm stumped..

Help!

The manual says:

• Press the reset button ⇒ page 11, fig. 4 with the ignition switched off and and hold it down.

• Switch the ignition on, release the reset button and and turn the reset button to the right. All counters will be reset to 0.

You haven't mentioned turning it...

You're right, I didn't mention it, but pretty sure I tried to turn it.. I probably did it at the wrong point.

Will have another go in the morning - thanks!

Sorted.

I was trying to follow the bizarre instrucions for 'Models with fixed service intervals', not the 'extended' one! Not surprising it didn't work.

Hi,

2002 (02) Fabia 1.9 TDi Elegance estate.

The car was serviced about 100 miles ago. Since then the battery has been on and off several times due to a battery problem which has now been fixed.

The service warnings 'INSPECT' and 'OIL' now come on every time I start the car. Ive tried re-setting as above and get the 'dashes' displayed (---) by turning the knob to the right. However the service warning still appears.

Can anyone help?

Regards
