VCDS reporting the wrong date stamps?

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone know how the dates are reported in VCDS as they don't come out correctly for me (Octavia FL). A couple of examples are below. I suppose that the second 2 numerals of the 20xx could be the month and the 14 could relate to 2010 somehow (-4)?

Mileage: 2954 km

Time Indication: 0

Date: 2003.14.08

Time: 10:37:45

10:25:53 Group 020: Last Alarm Source (Recent)

20 Alarm Source Trigger

2010:14:25 Last Alarm Source (Date) (actual date 25/10/2010)

20:57 h Last Alarm Source (Time)

12820 km Last Alarm Source (Mileage)

10:25:53 Group 021: Second Alarm Source

20 Alarm Source Trigger

2007:14:27 Second Alarm Source (Date) (actual date was 23/7/2010)

17:13 h Second Alarm Source (Time)

8170 km Second Alarm Source (Mileage)

Thanks

Graham

Date reporting is not supported before the introduction of the MED17 ECU so you should ignore it.

The vehicle knowing the data has nothing to do with engine control module at all, it is simply about the car knowing the data in general. Some like most Audis do know the data, the upper class VWs do to. Golf based models like the Octavia do no. Instead what some of them (mostly the newer ones) have is sort of a day counter. You'll notice the date stamp showing no real date (month = 14). We plan on adding functionality where such dates will be converted to real dates, at least for the fault codes showing in the Auto-Scan, not sure we will do the same for measuring blocks/values to be honest.
