Using lots of OIL... How?

Featured Replies

Had a the vrs for a month now, 2 weeks after i bought it the oil change service light came on so i took it to JKM for a service oil change.

About a week later, the red oil light came on, flashed 3 times and then disapeared. I had a look on the dip stick and found no reading on it!

I filled it up so the oil was nicely on the dipstick, but now the light has decided to come on again and flash a few times then go out.

Havent checked oil level yet since its cold and just got home!

My car was up on ramp things with the engine tray off a couple of days ago and there was no oil on it so its not leaking there as such. Theres also never any oil on the floor after i drive off.

My car does currently have fueling issues (getting new fuel filter etc) on wednesday, could this be a cause?

Just wondering since after paying £120 for a oil change... its been having issues.

Thanks.

Craig.

£120 for an oil change oh dear, I paid £90 for my full service by a Skoda mechanic and got my book stamped :)

what fueling issues? if its using oil id be very worried, would have thought turbo is it smoking out the back more then normal, although vag do say the cars can use a litre every 600miles or something like that and still be within spec

If it's leaking rather than being burned, then there ought to be some sign if you're losing that much! Blue smoke is the usual sign of burning oil, but I don't know if that's as easy to spot with a diesel. I take it the coolant's OK and you've not got HG troubles...?

My 182 was using lots of oil, no leaks and it was seriously over fueling. The coolant went from red to black obviously mixing with oil and I spotted the coolant bubbling away nicely so the head gasket was on it's last legs :(

The fueling issue is its not getting enought. Ran it slightly low on fuel and think some crap may have gone through injectors.

When coming onto boost the car shudders and doesnt pick up.

And i know. I now dont rate JKM at all.

Never really noticed any sort of smoke at all tbh...

1 litre per week? What sort of mileage do you do?

If it was leaking, you should see oil on block, under tray, bay walls and maybe under the car.

Unless you do something like 1000 miles a week, I'd expect to see some blue smoke if it's burning off!

250 a week at the most!

Its going into a garage on wednesday anyway so ill get them to have a furthur inspection.

Really need a vagcom check but cant find anyone near me able to!
