Temperature/Low Coolant Level

Featured Replies

Hi

The temperature/low coolant warning light is occassionally coming on on my wife's vRS.

The coolant level is OK, and the temperature cannot be the problem as this is happening as soon as the car is started.

The light will stay on until the engine is switched off and then does not come back on again.

I'm thinking perhaps the sensor/sender is starting to fail?

Any other thoughts?

Cheers

Lots of similar threads about the same problem lately

I had the same issue on my Octi and managed to scrape the sensor prongs within the header tank with a screwdriver to remove the contamination build up and has been fine since.

You may not be able to access the prongs on a Fabia so may have to replace the tank as I beleive the sensor is an integral part

read all about it here

A new expansion tank should sort that out.

Thanks all.

Looks like a little top up might cure it, if not a new tank.

If it needs a new tank I think I'll wait until it gets above freezing B)
