Diesel additives in PD TDI engines

Featured Replies

Has anyone used such additives on their PD TDI engines?

I used to run my 110 TDI Ibiza (non PD) with a splash of Millers Diesel Power every tank full & have still got around half a bottle left.

Am I OK to use it in the vRS or will it cause problems?

The manual says not to use any additives, as the engine doesn't need it and it could potentially do damage. Personally, I wouldn't bother...

What does Millers Diesel Power claim to do? If it's just going to clean injectors and the like, I doubt it would cause that much ill effect. If it's one of these additives which coats the engine with PTFE or something, then steer clear...

Supposed to clean injectors & increase cetane levels in the fuel.

Don't think it has any PTFE additives.

Sent an e-mail to Millers Technical services last night, their answer as follows:-

"Yes you can use diesel power plus in the vehicle, we are also going to be

launching a new version (name as yet undecieded) which, when it hits the

shops would be the one to go with for the future. Both products give a

boost in cetane value. The newer product is designed more for after

treatment componenets such as particulate traps and catalysts."

Gonna it a go next time I fill up, to see if there's any differences.

Its not recommened, I really wouldnt bother.

I've been adding 2 litres of Biodiesel to each fill of the tank for some months now. The engine runs quieter and produces much much less smoke as a result, without any noticeable effect on performance or economy.

Seen a Diesel Volvo with Nitrous as the additive. Now that did make a difference !!!!

When I had my Mondeo TDCi I used to use Millers Diesel Power Plus and whilst other pople with the same car on the Mondeo forum were complaing about hesitation etc my car ran spot on. I have always used it in every diesel car I own and if I ever have another diesel car would defo use it. It should reduce smoke and increase cetane, would be an advantage on a re-mapped vRS.

I seem to remember JBS having a Nitrous Oxide kit for the PD 130 engine! :)

I don't want to use anything as drastic as that.......................yet! ;)
