Electric seat not remembering different key's settings

Featured Replies

I know I have a Yeti but too few of us have the electric seat just yet to get a meaningfull answer on the Yeti forum - they only started to add these seats to UK bound Yetis from week 44 build this year.

I've set my seat, pressed the Set button then 1 and heard the beep. If I mess it around again and then press 1 it goes back as it should to my chosen settings, as well as the mirrors. Then within 10 seconds of doing this I took the key out of the ignition and pressed the relevant button on the keyfob as per the manual's instructions and heard another beep. This supposedly stores the three seat positions to THAT key. Then went and did the same with the other key to my partner's seat and mirror settings and low and behold every single time I get in the car with my key the seat refuses to move to my stored seat position or vice verca with the other key. What am I doing wrong? I'm getting sick of finding that perfect driving position and then having to reset it every time!

Help appreciated. Thanks. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Have you tried allocating button1 to key 1 and button2 to key2?

Did you remember to open the door before pressing your key?

If you allocate memorybutton1 to key1 then you can't allocate memorybutton1 to key2 as well.

in short, it seems as you think you have 3 memory options PER keyfob, whereof you have 3 memory-options in total.

Check this thread to see if you assign the different buttons to the different keys correctly

AH! Thanks. Someone on the Yeti forum said you have three settings on each key. And yes that is exactly what I had been doing. I've set both keys to have number 1 as their first setting. Doh.

I will go and try this out tonight! Thank you.

Key fob will only remember one setting, so you have to have his and hers keys. The seat will only start to move one you open the drivers door. I thought I was doing this wrong nearly two weeks back when I collected my car. So to test things were set correctly, after setting both keys, I got out he car and locked it with Key 2 (the last to be set to the memory) and then unlocked with Key 1 and opened the door. The seat then moved in to place. I then locked the door with Key 1 and unlocked again with Key 2 and the seat then moved in to my wifes position.

Hope that makes sense?

Perfect! All now works as expected. Funny to hear the mirror whir when you open the door and then see the seat move too.

I once saw a woman get in an SLK in a shopping car park. As she was reversing out of her space, I noticed that she and her seat was moving forward... so I assumed that her seat "relaxed" when she stopped, to allow her more room to get out, and then moved back to the correct position once she put her key in. Is this something that the superb could do automatically, as in, move the seat when removing the key, and then moving it back when the key is reinserted? I know I could do it by setting one of the memory buttons and press it when I go to get out, but I'm just curious :)

It's better to leave it on button, than automatically. You might have something behind drivers seat. I tend to leave laptop bag there, and I wouldn't like idea of having it damaged by too smart seats. I remember nightmare stories about automatic seat belt in US ;)

I always put wife on 1, me on 2, and 3 relax position which usually is factory set on last button. That way I have statement that my wife is in first place, but that is mostly because of compromises she usually makes to get car I want :)

I see what you mean... I often use the space behind the driver's seat and didn't think of damage being caused. Button 3 sounds like a good enough idea though :)
