Grizedale Stages rally, 4 Dec 2010

Featured Replies

I waqs going to ask who intends going, but just been informed by the chief marshal that it's been cancelled due to 'safety issues' regarding a sprinkling of snow and a bit of ice.

Give me strength. H & S rules it seems.:dull:

Pardon me for asking, but isn't rally Sweden and Finland run in extreme wintry and deep snow conditions most years?

the Grizeadale is cancelled on Sat but on Sunday we are still running the Galloway Hills Rally. Stages do not yet have snow on them but will be frozen. Almost 40 stage miles(forest) and enrties still available.

Location Castle Douglas in SW Scotland(DG7)

Have a look.

Cheers Loskie.

Might have to give it a miss now unfortunately.

Just had an email and general long statement / explanation/ apologies off the chief marshal from the 'Grizedale', and on reflection of my o/p. it seems they did do the right thing now.

It' sounds like it really is dangerous in parts, and not just the stage, but the narrow steep winding surrounding road network too.

Still very disappointing, but hey ho, nowt can be done about the weather.

November 25/26 next year anyway.

I posted the Press Release on your other thread complaining about not being able to go away.

Yes, I received their email and read that this morning. Hadn't actually seen your post on the other thread that was exactly the same.

Just a shame they didn't post it earlier, and then we'd have been left in no doubt as to just how bad it really is up there.
