Insurance Trouble

Featured Replies

Hi, a few months ago i was reversing out of a parking space when i saw a car about 4 or 5 cars further down with it's reversing lights on so i pulled back in a little with about a foot sticking out so that i could see when he was out of the way. I applied the hand brake and took it out of gear and after around 40 or 50 seconds he reverses at high speed and clips my car. Got out and checked my car which only had a couple of minor scratches and a lil chip to a reversing sensor.

Spoke with the guy who said sorry my fault i didn't see you. swapped details and thought as it was only a lil scratch i won't bother claiming, today i get a letter from his insurance company saying i pulled out in front of him and it was my fault! What should i do?? :'( Got no claims protection either :'(

Would really like to find one of those scamming claim specialists which finds witnesses and teach them a lesson :giggle:

Did you take any photos at the time? If so, pass them and/or the details of any witnesses to your insurance company. Don't respond directly yourself...

His opinion as to who was at fault doesn't really count for much - he'll have provided his insurance company with the "facts" and they'll have reached their own conclusion. If the facts he's provided are incorrect, all you can really do is provide evidence to your insurance company as to the real facts, and then let them fight it out...

Any CCTV?

Many car parks do. You maybe lucky if it hasn't been too long since the accident.

OP did say a few months ago so I'd be very surprised if the store still had the relevant footage...

It was on a public road where you park nose in. The guy saw a van stop to let me out and just reversed back without looking. Can't belive he changed his story as my girlfriend saw and heard everything.

Should I try one of those claims firms?

First thing you must do is inform your insurance. You should have done this when the incident occured, even if you didn't want to make a claim.
