drivers doo electric window switches

Featured Replies

I need to replace the driver's door window switches - the unit can work the rear windows but the fron ones don't work (windows wind down fine when using the remote)

Does anyone have the part number and an explaination of how to get the old unit out?

thanks for any help

To get the old unit out its just a case of being gentle with some trim removers (get some off ebay) and prising the unit up. Then you will need some narrow flat bladed screwdrivers (small ones) to pop the old switch unit from the door handle casing.

I purchased my unit second hand from ebay germany. It came to about 23 quid with postage. I changed mine because the black rubber paint was peeling off.

So I do have a unit spare that works (4 elec window type) from a 06 Octavia but it has alot of peeling of the paint on the switches - works fine though.

Thanks for the info - any chance you can post a pic of the unit showing where it's fixed? Think that could give me a good clue for where exactly to prise

cheers

The pic would only show the actual switch unit, the part you are prying up is the armrest/door pull part. Just pry each end up being careful not to damage the trim, it is clipped down so is quite tight. Once this is out it's very obvious how the switch comes away from the door pull.

thanks very much - will have a go tomorrow after driving all day, hopefully ther'll be a bit of warmth in the plastic by then...
