Stereo installation

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Skoda Fabia 4D , 2005 model.

In my car speakers are already installed but there is no audio system. Its empty.

So I want to buy a audio system and want to install it.

Looking for some guide and if someone has already done this, please share your experience.

Thanks,

BT

All the cables are there? It really is as simple as purchasing a headunit and plugging it in.

If you get a standard skoda symphony one its simply a plug and play thing, if you are going aftermarket you'll need to swich the live connectors on the stereo loom that you get with your new headunit and puchase an aerial amplifier and connect that in too. Also look into getting an adaptor for the stereo from your skoda dealer (an aftermarket hu is slightly smaller than the standard symphony so it just fills in the gap).

Its not really a difficult thing to do, and you can always get places like halfrauds to install them for you for a minimal fee.

Please note the reference to "halfrauds" in the previous posting is a deliberate mis-spelling of Halfords, a British car accessory shop. I suspect they don't have branches in Finland...

Although you will need the code to match the radio to the car so it works. . .

When I installed a stereo the most annoying bit was arranging all the wires behind the stereo. Read some suggestion on removing the glovebox but this did not help me much. It was more tedious than difficult involving removing the stereo, rearranging the wires and trying to push it back in.

for me it was very simple, but i have to dismount latter ton instal Rear speaker wires, RCA pre out and signal feed, maybe with those in, i might get into trouble with the cables

I thought that as well - but Halfords will only install stuff you've bought from them according to their website.

Doesn't surprise me - I'd be surprised if a Skoda dealer would charge only £4.99 for fitting a battery. It does appear though that you could buy online at halfords.com then go to a store to get it fitted - albeit that's not an option for the OP... (and you'd pay a premium of about £30 on the battery - Bosch S5008 = £122)
