missfire help

Featured Replies

hi ive recently got myself a mk1 vrs octavia, its a smashing car and has had lots of work done to it,but immediatly after i got it i noticed a slight missfire,i thought it would be a coilpack or spark plug,so i thought number 2 coil was playin up so i changed it 4 a new 1 and still the same,so then i changed all my s-plugs PFR6Q's and done a compression test 200,200,210,210 were the results, anyway i put the new plugs in and all were fine 4 all but a day ,so i went to vw yesturday pluged the machine into it and it came up intermittent missfire on number 2,so i changed all 4 coils just to c if it would help but no still the same, its strange cus you can tell on idle its lumpy but when your drivin with your foot down the boost gauge will only go to about 10psi but then if you back off and the go again it will go right round to about 25psi or so which its set too.its strange ihave got it booked in on monday at midland vw for them to have a look i was just wondering if any of you guys could shed a bit of light on it for me,thanks :'(

more than likely the wiring to the coil pack has become damaged over time causing this issue not uncommon

it normally fails due to the heat and the heat protector being removed and not replaced as it should be

check this

hth

as for the boost maybe sticky actuator ???

ok thanks,i have had a quick look at the wiring and it looks ok tbh,but il have a more detailed look over the weekend, nah the boost is def down to a missfire as you can feel it missin when on boost, thanks mate..

visual checking will not be enough you will need to use a tester to confirm if its fecked or not
