Felicia Fun Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi,

The Exhaust on my Fun isnt sounding to great, i have been under [in the snow!] but cant get a proper look untill i dig the ramps out.

What im looking for is a diagram of the exhaust so i can determine what part i need to order,

The rear section is ok, so im thinking its from the downpipe back, is this the CAT? there is also a small stubby flex between this part and the downpipe which maybe the problem but i cant get into have a proper look so just guessing

any suggestions on where to obtain a pdf of a manual etc?

Blowing from the centre section seems pretty common on Felicias in general. The 1.6 exhaust is in 3 bits - the cat is integral to the downpipe, which joins to the centre section with a ~6" connecting sleeve, and the rear section has a slip-on connection held by a clamp.

You can register at VAGcat.com for free and see the parts diagram here, if that's what you're after.

edit: The flexi section in the downpipe is tougher than it looks - I thought mine was leaking around there after an incident involving ramps and a forgotten axle stand - as it turned out, the downpipe was fine and it had actually cracked the manifold.

Thanks for the reply and the link,

My exhaust seems diferent to that tho, as the flexi section is at the bottom on the downpipes connecting to the cat

the Fun was fitted with a VW motor, so will the exhaust be diffeent to that of the standard skoda pickup fitted with a skoda engine?

Yes, the exhaust on the 1.3 (and indeed 1.9D) engined models is different. However with the same engine, only the rear section is body-specific: you could happily use the front and centre sections from a 1.6 hatch or estate as they're all the same part.

As for the difference, I guess maybe yours has had a non-OE downpipe replacement in the past, or possibly the OE part changed designs at some point, so my comments may not apply - all I can say is that my '99 1.6 has an original downpipe that looks like the one on the parts diagram. I can at least confirm that it's dead easy to change the whole system in an afternoon up on a pair of ramps - just remember the axle stand that was supporting the cat before reversing off the ramps when done...
