Alarm Trouble

Featured Replies

Suddenly thsi afternoon the alarm went off, for no apparent reason. I relocked the car, but over the next hour or so it went off again and again. Colleagues suggested various fixes:

1. Relock all doors

2. Open and close everything.

3. Open and clean filler cap etc.

Nothing has worked - it still goes off evey few minutes, seemingly at random. I am fast losing patience with it, though it seems quiet at the mo.

I would therefore be grateful for any other suggested causes, and if possible a way to disable the alarm so it doent wake the neighbours all night.

If its relevant, it is below freezing, and was below -10 degrees last night, though it has always been fine until now.

Thanks in advance

The sensor is to sensitive.

With vag-com it can be lowered to more reasonable value.

A small insect inside could be enough to trigger the thing.

On my drivers door their is a button to desactivate the interior sensor.

I had exactly this trouble on a Fabia some years ago in cold weather. Turned out to be caused by a voltage drop. The Dealer replaced the battery and the alternator and it never happeded again.

On the Fabia if I kept my finger pressed on the keyfob lock button it deactivated the alarm. Not sure if it does on the Octavia....... Have to check that one out for myself. Oh I think you can press the button on the drivers side door pillar. That deactivates the internal sensor.

Not going to fix an electrical fault though but may help your diagnosis.
