Fog lights

Featured Replies

Hi guys I just wanted to ask, is the skoda fabia 2001 hatchback ment to have 2 rear fog lighs?

I was doing a lights test and found it very odd that only 1 light was brighter

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question :( very sorry, I couldent find and answers on the internet

I'm fairly certain that only one side is illuminated, and it's the drivers side. So on RHD cars, the right fog should light, and on LHD cars, the left side should do.

They just have one on the drivers side.

Can get the second to light up though if you bridge a wire across, as the bulbs and holders etc are the same. Not much point IMO, think I've only used the rear fog lights about 5 times!

Ah thanks brilliant :D I was very confused on this

And iv actually had to use this today, its horrible on The motorway

Yes - only one as standard. However something not widely publicised is that there's a new Google search facility embedded into the normal Search page - hit "Search" and use the box at the top - this has just led me to an interesting article about how to couple the fog lights into the brake light circuit...

I like to turn on my rear fogs when the anchor behind me has his fog lights blaring in perfect visibility.

I believe they only illuminate one side so they are not confused for brake lights/mask them.

I've got a light query of my own, if anyone could help?

I'm the very happy owner of an 02 Fabia Classic, estate (with recently dry footwells!) and whilst driving to and from uni in the mornings and evenings I have been flashed from behind, when I look back I can see my brake lights lighting up everything!

Is this normal, or have I just got too high a wattage lamps in the brake lights? I think the ones fitted are as per the spec on the lamp holder and have two filaments.

When I press the brake I can see they get brighter again.

Also, does the 02 Fabia estate classic have a reverse light?

Couldn't find any answer in the Haynes or owners manuals, and am fed up of people not seeing me backing out of spaces at the supermarket.

Thanks in advance for any help offered,

Gav

An 02 classic estate should have 2 reverse lights one either side. If none working check bulbs, then fuse, then the reverse switch itself (on 1.4mpi is on front of gearbox and pretty obvious). My reverse light switch seems a bit hit and miss, more hit at the moment - not sure if it's temperature related.

RE: brake lights check your brake lights only come on when the pedal is pressed (not sure if ignition needs to be on). The brake light switch can fail in the on position leaving the brake lights on all the time.

Ignition doesn't need to be on IIRC for brake lights.

Does the heating fan get louder/change in tone when you engage reverse? It's meant to enter re-cir mode to prevent you sucking up your own fumes when reversing. If it doesn't - I'd guess the switch mentioned above is gone.
