Octy 10 Scout spongy brakes

Featured Replies

I have noticed my brakes are spongy and need to be pumped in very low temperatures, are OK when the temp rises. I have a friend who also has 10 Octy Scout and he has had this experience too. The first time it happens it can be a little scary when you want to stop suddenly.

Has anyone else had this problem ,I have never had a car that did this,is it peculiar to Scoda/VW maybe.

It happened to my VW Golf after a night with minus 15C frost. Yes, it is scary!

I believe it is frost on your brakes (others say it is the road salt forming a layer on the brakes). It should be gone after the first time braking. After heavy frost I used to brake at a safe moment so that my brakes would work when I really needed to break.

my 09 pre FL vRS does this too, can do it when very wet also, it is a bit heart stopping for a sec :giggle: :giggle:
