Clutch pedal goes up on acceleration and vice versa!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Got a little thing going on with my fabia vrs at the moment (I dont think this is specific to this model).

Basically its got a single mass fly/uprated clutch (unknown).

I just bled the clutch after having experienced some symptoms as listed below..

When accelerating the clutch pedal travel height raises slightly (feel my foot rise a little)

When deccelerating the clutch drops slightly under my foot resting on the clutch.

The clutch bite point was very low - almost dragging but bleed has fixed this I think.

My OH has a vrs too (dual mass/normal clutch) and this doesnt happen?

After bleeding the clutch tonight, I still get the above motions going on!? Anyone care to explain this?!

Many thanks,

Nick

You shouldn't drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal...can cause premature clutch wear.

Knew that was coming, but at the same time it alerted me to this problem...!! (I dont think the problem has come from foot resting - as clutch adjustment is done automatically)

Anyone had this before?!

Is the slave cylinder loose and moving as the engine rotates?

Are all the engine mounts (including the dogbone) OK?

When i first got my vrs i kept my foot on the clutch pedal and after a while of driving it would be really hard to select gears without crunching, Realised what i was doing and used the foot rest instead and no more problem. All i can think of is that when resting your foot on the pedal it over heats the fluid.

As far as I knew I thought the slave was internal in the bellhousing - just the nipple showing :0 (come from jap cars). Will check that out cheers :D
