Superb faulty boot and remote central locking

Featured Replies

I have been having problems opening the boot by either the button on the key or by the release in the drivers door. 8 times outof 10 it doesn't open at all which leaves me having to drop the rear seats to get my stuff out....very frustrating. The rear near side door does not open either by the central locking and sometimes has a mind of its own.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

theres a key hole next to the fuel cap/boot release buttons on the door which locks off the boot make sure its in the correct position. also theres a key hole on the outside of the boot next to the number plate lights which you can use to open the boot.

...but even with the release button in the driver's door security locked, the boot should still open from the keyfob... a door is playing up too, so sounds like it could be the old favourite water ingress/CCM problem?

Very same symptoms as I had for water ingress.

Are any interior lights flickering or even the ones under the wing mirrors or in the door cills not working? These are common symptoms of water ingress too.

Check the carpets in the footwell on the passenger side for dampness. If they are damp get your chequebook ready it could mean a new convenience control module.

Thanks for replying, I have tried these, but would prefer to use the remote central locking.

Thanks for replying. I did have water ingress (usual fault with blockage under battery) about a year ago - all sorted now. Have checked the front and rear passenger footwells and all appears ok. Where is the convenience control module situated and any ideas how much a repalcement costs?

I take it from the name Carroll you are in Ireland. If so a ccm costs about €270 + V.A.T. It is located under the passenger seat, under the carpets. I would try everything else first before buying one of these. It could be two separate problems. Pop the cover off the boot lid and see is the motor in the boot lock knackered. These cost only about €35 + V.A.T. The central locking could be a problem with a key fob. Hope you get sorted easier than I did. If your car is 04 or earlier Clara cars in Kilkenny have a second hand ccm at about €80 but get the chassis no. of the car it came from and get a dealer to cross check whether it will suit. Parts dept. in Aughrim motors did this for me. Hope this helps.
