50k vRS oil?

Featured Replies

Hi guys n girls(?),

Just about to do a oil change on my vRS this weekend and unsure what oil is best to put in it. I'm after some good stuff, no carlube crap etc....

Ideally want to flush the engine aswell.

Tried to do a search but it seems useless, everything i search for has "no matches found"

The car's done 50k :)....Thanks

Go to Skoda and get the stuff they use Quantum Platinum its rated to the correct standard. £25 or so for 5 litres.

Thanks, had a quick browse on there lastnight.

Also do i need to replace a washer on the sump nut plug? I've had to do it to all my previous cars (peugeots).

Excellent website!

Skoda £29 including oil filter and a free sump plug from my friendly parts person last week :)

Cheers guys,

Well i've decided that im going to go for the stuff from skoda as im sure that will be fine.

Now, i want to run the car on cheap oil for half hour to flush the engine out, then put new stuff in. what would anyone recommend? 10w 40 semi synthetic?

I would not run the car on anything other than what's recommended. Will doing this not be the same as running the car on the old oil and then draining it while its still warm?

Paid a visit to my local skoda dealer (rainworth skoda) to be told that the vRS's did not come with or require a sump nut washer?...Not sure how true this is. Also apparently its a 19 inch sump nut them also hahaha!

Obviously he ment 19mm....Is this also true as i think this service guy did not have a clue what he was on about.

Is that the right plug and washer size (i.e. for a Golf mk1)?

not sure if it'll fit a mk1 golf but it fit my vrs. if there the same size thread etc it should fit

The washer is attached to the bolt see here for example My link That guy did not have a clue!!

yes the washer comes with the bolt part number N 90813202 there only £1.52. 10w40 will be fine to flush it out you will find quite a few members use 10w40 semi all the time
