Any Mods / Options For FL Octavia vRS via VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm getting my genuine VCDS software and lead today and want to know if there are any cool mods or factory options that I can activate using VCDS.

My car is a FL Octavia vRS TDI CR 170 Manual MY2010.

I am a newbie so guides would be useful. I'm so excited! Cant wait!

Cornering lights! Everything else can be done through maxidot!

Can't change the comfort turn signals (amount) via MaxiDOT. ;)

Sebastian, (sorry to hi-jack the OP's thread) do you know if auto lights can be disabled completely with VCDS on a MY11 Superb Combi?

If by Autolight you mean Highway and Rain Light, yes. See Rain-/Light Sensor Coding for details.

Thanks,

Auto lights are the position on the light switch when the lights come on automatically when the light level drops to a certain amount, ie going through a tunnel or a road heavily shaded by trees etc, the lights will come on and go off again automatically when the light level increases again.

Not sure if this is what you refer to by the "Highway and Rain Light"?

I assume the highway bit is when they come on at a set speed? and the rain light when the ambient light is reduced sufficiently?

Oh, you mean the actual light sensor functionality. Technically you can disable that, makes no sense though if you ask me. ;) Do they come on too early or too late for you? The easiest fix for that is putting the switch to ON and not AFL (Tunnel).

Highway light switches the light on once you hit 140 km/h, stays on until you stay below 50/80 km/h for a while. Rain light means that the lights will come on once the front wipers are running continiously.

Yes where I live there is a shaded area just before a road junction and on a couple of occasions they lights have come on automatically (in my wife's Golf) and a car has pulled out of the junction (as they thought they were being 'flashed out'), this is something I believe is dangerous so when the Superb arrives I wish to disable the function.

I could of course do as you suggested above but ideally I do not want to pass the light switch through the Auto position which would cause the xenon's to come on and go off again very briefly (possibly shortening the life of the xenon ballasts).

If you try the switch you'll notice that it will not switch immediately, there is like a 1 second delay before it actually engages the headlights. Besides, you can leave it at ON if you want to. The common fear that the life of the xenons is being an issue with coming/leaving home or switching them on just briefly is something that appears to be a thing of the past. I cannot remember when I've seen xenon's fail the last time, I really beat my car when it comes to electronics because I wanna see how long it takes how long something breaks. Xenons never failed on me...
