Whistling type noise on TFSI when idling...

Featured Replies

Might be a stupid question......... ...............just noticed last night when car was sitting ticking over there was a whistling type noise coming from the engine, is this normal, car is only 1 week old should I give the dealer a call to take a look?

Is it a very high pitched whistling noise? if so, I posted a thread on this about 10 daya ago, as my 4 week car suffered from the same problem. Get the dealer to check the air con compressor unit - this is where the whistling noise was coming from on my car, and the part was changed under warranty.

This was my thread http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/181632-two-problems-with-my-new-vrs-gutted/page__p__2189727__hl__gutted__fromsearch__1entry2189727

Have a listen under the very front of the engine cover as it could be the PCV, except I've just seen your car and you have the TSI engine not TFSI which should have done away with PCV problems.

Get it back to the dealer.

Sorry to post this but you don't have a TFSI engine if it's a 2010 model, not unless the delear has sold you old stock. The FL is fitted with TSI, anyway, can't help you with the noise issue as don't have the same on SWMBO's motor........Hope your dealer finds solution and would be interesting to know what it is..............

Car only left the factory Nov 2010, my 'vehicle order' says 2.0T FSI and my invoice says 2.0 FSI, so not sure, assuming I have FSI with it being new, what is the difference? Doesn't really bother me still really love the car and pleased with it

FSI stands for Fuel Stratified Injection, this is a normally aspirated petrol direct injection system where the petrol is directly injected in to the cylinders on the induction and compresion phase of a 4 stroke engine, resulting in fule savings and better engine efficiency. TFSI is the same but Turbo charged.

TSI stands for Turbocharger Supercharger Injection, a forced-induction system that puts more oxygen into the cylinders than would be available without force, allowing more fuel to be burned, producing more power. this is would be used in conjunction with an FSI system.

TSI - Turbo Stratified Injection

Take a picture of the engine. That should settle it once and for all.
