Does anyone know if ArmorAll Wheel Protectant is available anywhere in the UK?

Halfords stock ArmorAll, but not this spray.

What about the AutoGlym version?

I can't help on the availability of Amour All but here are a few thoughts...

1. Is it a bit like Rain X? The way it forms a layer / barrier & pearls up appears similar. But has to be applied with a clean cloth/tissue & "rubbed on". I can't see why (other than the hassle) it can't be used on wheels too. It also lasts about 4 weeks. On a positive its solvent based so temperature when applying isn't an issue.

2. Alternative for cleaning is also Wonder Wheels, I find it works well, use very sparingly (1 litre would last me about 5 years) apply precisely with the "paint brush" provided, leave a minute or two and wash off. Only if really bad would you have to target a specific area again.

3. In the coatings/hard surface cleaners world... there is a product called Epoxy Silane Modified colloidal silica (made by Akzo formerly EKA in Sweden - there are other manuffacturer's too) but it is used in some paints (not much use for us) but also in Hard surface cleaners & traffic film removers. Its tiny particles & they fill up the nooks & crannies making what is already a smooth surface even smoother... so smooth infact that dirt struggles to get a hold & when the surface gets wet / rained on all the muck gets washed off!

You'd have to use it regularly as it does wear off but it could help.

Henkel do a "Window Cleaner Sidolin" which contains a small percentage but I've never found it in the UK. It wouldn't surprise me if this could help. Its basically a spray on cleaner & it may offer some of the the self cleaning effect you're after. A bit like an "after shower" spray to prevent dirt/limescale deposits forming. Once clean keeps it clean...

any use? maybe not but a little food for thought for you.

There's something about it on Detailing World. I'm sure you have to get it from USA. Try FK1000P or good ol' Collinite!

I done mine with "Turtle Wax Extreme Nano-Tech wheel wax", it came it well in Autoexpress tests. Halfords sell it

I put a coat of FinishKare 1000p Wax on my winter alloys before fitting to the car - even did the inside and back edge - but in this weather, it's hard to apply (literally, hard!)

If you stand the tin of wax in a bowl with about an inch of hot water it will soften it up and make it spread easier!. Also when you dampen your foam pad use hot water. I've found the FK stuff really good!

It is the clip on YouTube when the guy coats the alloy wheel with honey that's gobsmacking.
