4 wheel geometry

Featured Replies

Hi All

Had the rear geometry done at a dealers a couple of months ago because of the sawtooth problem and as there was a sudden drop in mpg (80 miles less per tank) they checked it again when the car was in for a couple of other things. The geometry was "spot on" seemingly.

I thought the steering was a bit heavy and the car had the slightest pull to the left which I put down to the road camber. The car was quite good to drive so I didnt really worry about it much but I decided to get the full geometry checked at some point to be sure all was ok.

I had a day off today so took the car to CLCM in Edinburgh.

The geometry was "miles out" so the guy adjusted everything and gave me a printout of the original settings and the newly adjusted settings.

I drove the car home and now the steering is much lighter and the car is extremely easy to drive. It now just glides along.

I have the 16" steelies on at the moment with the 55 profile winter tyres so it will be good to try it with the alloys back on in the spring.

I wonder if the fuel economy will increase again - I hope so with the vat increase coming up.

Cheers

Dave

Had mine done this week in South Wales by a specialist and it was exactlt the same, WAY out they said, but not justthe bakcs, the fronts as well! All fixed and i agree, the car drives soooo much better now! Its finding a specialist who can do the check properly which is the hard bit.

Fuel economy must increase as all the wheels are now pointing in the true straight diorection when before they were pointing everywhere!

I had my rear camber adjusted to the "revised" settings a few weeks back, and since then have noticed that the back end seems a little more "lively" and thumps over big bumps a bit more noisily than before. Anyone else who have had this done noticed this?

the camber wasnt an issue with my car, it was the Toe which needed adjustment. They did say that it would have felt more lively before than after and now it drives very well stuck to the road.

The change in settings is quite minor and I'd be surprised if you'd notice it. Didn't notice any difference on mine. Rear ARB uprating did make a big difference though!

Where did you get it done in South Wales?

After I had the geometry done, I found it was more planted and predictable, not less
