New Speakers and Tweeter positioning question

Featured Replies

I got a new set of Pioneer speakers last weekend, it was a good deal and I couldn't resist (17" fronts TS-E1776 normally 140 Euro which I got for 70

Euro and 13" rears TS-H1302 normally 130 Euro which I got for 40 Euro (I haggled and got them even cheaper than 1/2 price)). Basically I got the whole lot for 110 Euro.

I hooked up the original rear tweeters when putting them in but was wondering if it would be worth while connecting up the tweeters that came with the new rear speakers instead. The original ones are very near your ear and are a bit much, I was thinking about mounting the new ones to the top of the plastic which holds the rear speakers, near the grill where the sound comes through.

I don't know much about ICE and was wondering if theres any good reasons why I shouldn't do it. The new tweeters are in the box so are probably better than the standard ones, but would you have an issue with where I'm planning on locating them ?

Sorry for all the questions, but I thought of a few more :)

Theres a cable which comes with the speakers which connects the tweeters to the 13

put the tweeters where your ears like them the best there is no right or wrong answer ...id recomend using the ones surplied and ditch the OEM ones....the high pass filter in line with the tweeter is to stop all the bass going to the tweeter and busting it they are only deigned to handle high frequencies...as for the rear tweeters id dicconect them totaly and you wil find you syetm instaly becomes far better balenced.. at the moment all you ear hear is that one tweeter screaming in your ear...

The front speakers are the 2-way Speaker (have the tweeter as part of them) so was thinking of disconnecting the front OEM door tweeters. I suppose you could say at the moment theres 4 tweeters in the front, which is a bad thing :) .

The back speakers are the Seperate 2-way (have seperate tweeters) so I was going to disconnect the OEM ones and mount the ones that came with the new speakers beside the grill for the rear speakers.

I know theres probably no real right or wrong answer, but I just knew people here have more experience than me at it and could advise. :D

TBH mate id of done it the other way round... co ax in the back compents with the seprate tweeters in the front.. but you have them now... for a more acturate what id do is dicconect all OEM tweeters...put you coax in the front as normal....and the comps in the back as nomal..but the rear tweeters palce high up on the plastic that runs up to the roof from parcel shelf level...basically getting the tweeters at ear level.. to try and make up for the low speaker position in the front...but not having them as close as the rear OEM tweeters...

Joel,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to place the rear tweeters just behind the grill for the rear speakers (so they'll be at ear level and won't be right behind rear passangers ears.)
