Yeti will be produced at Shanghai Volkswagen 12/10/2010 Škoda China and Shanghai Volkswagen announced today in Shanghai that Škoda compact SUV Yeti will be locally produced at Shanghai Volkswagen early 2013.

The chairman of the Board of Škoda Auto, Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, Škoda China President Alfred Rieck, Shanghai Volkswagen General Manager Zhang Hailiang attended the signing ceremony of the licence production contract in Shanghai.

Škoda Yeti, the fourth strategic car model which Škoda Auto will introduce into China, is bound to extend Škoda Auto's product portfolio and better meet consumers’ personalized demands. As a strategic model of the Škoda brand, the Škoda compact SUV Yeti has been making deep footprints in the market since its debut in 2009 in Europe and has added strength and breadth to Škoda Auto's model portfolio.

Škoda China President Alfred Rieck said: “Since its entry into China in 2006, Škoda Auto and Shanghai Volkswagen have a successful cooperation and achieved fast and robust growth. Škoda Yeti’s local production in Shanghai Volkswagen is opening a new growth perspective and shows Škoda Auto's long-term commitments to the Chinese market. New customer segment will enjoy Škoda´s clever engineering also with a SUV.“

Shanghai Volkswagen General Manager Zhang Hailiang said: “Škoda Yeti’s local production at Shanghai Volkswagen signifies the Škoda official entry into the compact SUV market segment in China. We believe Škoda Yeti will continue to sharpen the market competitive edge of Škoda brand and lay a solid foundation for its long-term growth. We expect, Škoda Yeti local production will help optimize Škoda Auto's product portfolio and extend customer base of Škoda.”
