Yeti - a baby Range Rover?

Featured Replies

Caught this on the Yahoo website - check out the last car on the list.

The article didn't start well by describing the mazda doors as "fear inducing suicide doors" as they can't be opened until the front doors are open I can't see any fear inducing at all.

As far as I can see Yetis stand on their own merits, No Range Rover comparisons required!

That list must work well for me, got 2 of the cars listed!

It also states the 1.2 does 44mpg! not that mine has ever come close to that in the last 10K miles.

Straight out of the showroom the lowliest Yeti sets you back just over £13,000. Which means if you do manage to fool the general public that you're in one of Land Rover's finest, you've just saved yourself over £30,000

i've got no intention of trying to convince anyone that i drive a range rover. wouldn't want the reliability and build quality issues or the extra cost for them.

oh, and i don't play football so my wife cannot have one either! :giggle:

the whole reason i bought the SM is because i needed a very reliable 4x4 at a reasonable price that would be good to drive and look at.

add in the fact that the SM is 'different'

as it turned out, that's exactly what i got and i love it :mmm:

+1

I consider it an insult for the SM to be compared with the RangeRover.

The Yeti is a much better design of car for its sector and displays none of the downsides of the RR. I hate the notion that us SM drivers could end up being categorised in the same way as the self obsessed and greedy drivers that form the majority of the owners of motoring dinosaurs like the RangeRover.

I don't see how a Yeti could compare to a Range Rover or how a Range Rover would compare with a Yeti.

We had a Range Rover several years ago and it was extremely comfortable, fantastic V8 engine, nice soft leather interior, brilliant speakers, Aluminium body work, low range gearbox, permanent 4 wheel drive.......but those equipment are on a car tha cost £50k+, whilst..........

The most expensive Yeti with Sat Nav would set you back less than £25k, does 50+ mpg (diesels), suspension will not collapse, ECU less likely to break, handles much better..........

They are just two extremely different cars, I don't think they are really comparable - Bad Yahoo!!

If you want small go-kart like handling and cheaper running cost, you will pick the Yeti, but if comfort and power is everything then naturally you would prefer the Range Rover.

I just find it absurd comparing a Yeti to a Range Rover, its like comparing a Golf to a Jag XJ?!!

Funny enough, speaking to my friend the other day who drives a RAV4, he seems to think the Qashqai is much better than the Yeti and its more comparable to the Juke.......

Saw my first Juke week last Monday in Beverley, looked quite small and not quite as distinguished I thought it would and certainly no comparison to a Yeti in terms of size or looks.

TP

Its quite a bit smaller, the boot is half the size and there is no leg or head room in the back!

was looking at a juke today.

from the front it seems to have a micra windscreen, roof and doors.

just built on a wider platform with wide arches and taller suspension

Saw a few Jukes' around lately, certain colours don't suit it especially the lighter ones but grey looks good as does red. Also saw a Countryman the other day, which looked quite nice, but still prefer the Yeti.
