1.8 tsi performance

Featured Replies

I've just realised that probably one of the nearest bits of dual carriageway to me is not far from you George.....the bit going up onto Eppynt from the old motel. Don't think I'd try 85 up there!!

The Brecon bypass is dual- carriageway, but is usually populated by competing stock-lorries loaded with the ubiquitous sheep!

That bit you refer to had me foxed for a while, because I live on the Epynt - but over the other side where there are no normal roads at all!! I agree that it would be a great place to floor the throttle, just so long as you avoid the Military and their manoeuvres round there - there Landies are antiquated and besides, that bit of dual is all twisty and bendy and uphill and stuff.

Mmmmm second thoughts... ... ... - I'll go and reconnoitre tomorrow. it might be good for a Yeti Adventure with secret time trials up and back for all of us. Then we'd see how fast our beasties go without any modifications.

It never ceases to amaze me how much useful info that can be gleaned from these forums. Who would have thought that there would be "very little in it" when comparing a 1.8TSI ( 0-60 in 8.4 seconds, top speed of 124 mph, 158 bhp and 184 lb/ft ) to a BMW 330D Touring ( 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, top speed of 155 mph, 241 bhp and well over twice the torque 384 lb/ft ). It must have needed a service

George,

according to my maps the Eppynt DC is closer to my, via Beulah and Tirabad and the centre road, than the Brecon DC :giggle:

Been saying this for ages.

a 1.8tsi Yeti + remap is basically a Golf R with more storage, Q car looks and a much cheaper pricetag.

You can even slap on a K04 turbo kit to bring it close to 300bhp with almost OEM feel.

I SOOO wish they make a DSG model and bring it out in Taiwan!!!!!!!

DSG wouldn't handle that much torque.

Well i know that it does handle it very well and Skoda warranty it with the ABT remap :p

I suppose it is - going over the "bacK" = scenic roads!

Powys has only got 3 miles of Dual-Carriageway roadways, something that those charged with attempting improvements get quite aerated about.

When you think how huge a county it is, it is a surprising statistic.

That's an interesting comment. Is Skoda's approval publicised anywhere? Surely, there must be some conditions?

Well over here i can buy a brand new 1.8tsi with a 220 remap from ABT right from the skoda main dealer and the warranty is unaffected.

I even drove one for about 1 hour and it was brilliant!.

They go well with that sort of power don't they? :giggle:;)

I love the fact that a handful of people say the engines will probably blow up at even the suggestion if a remap but dealers are more than happy to arrange for the remap and even cover it under warranty in some markets!

As I recall you have tuned your Yeti. Are you satisfied with the job, performance...? Do you feel any negative outcome?

Sorry I missed the question, I've been out doing the shopping for half of the neighbours in my area and helping inferior vehicles back on the road :p :giggle:;)

Tim - thanks for providing the link

Thanks Tim, for the link!

Another Q for Focusztickle.... Ow much? That's "Ow" as in "Ouch" -or it could be simply "How" if Ben is NOT a shark! http://ww1.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

£449 but there have been some great offers with 25-30% off in the shark 12 days of Christmas sale lately Inc a yeti specific day. Looking at the other offers I'd guess there will be some more based on different vag engines (so also applicable to us yeti owners)
