Few noob questions

Featured Replies

Hi, all ! I'm from Serbia so forgive me if i make some grammar errors :)

I recently bought 1.9 TDI fabia(redesigned), and i am in general pretty satisfied, but there are some flaws that I realised. Brakes are too weak, i got matador tires :  , abs doesnt come for 1.9 tdi but it comes for 1.4 16v, i think they should fire the guy that said that this should be like this.

I want to lower my car for 3 cm, and in store they told me i should get eibach pro-kit that should go on my stock shocks and my ride should not be that stiff. is this true? is it nessecary to buy sport shocks? i plan to get 16" rims and 205/50 tires, would this fit?? we have the worst roads in the world so bigger profile is necessary, (i know rs has 205/45). also i want to upgrade my brakes so what would you recommend for me? I would like to do chip tuning and replace injectors, i know where to get chip tuning but i dunno what injectors do i need? maybe from octavia?

are there any web stores with skoda equipment that would ship to serbia(europe)? are there any other skoda forums on english language?

Thanks in advance,

Hello from England :wave23d:

I want to lower my car for 3 cm' date=' and in store they told me i should get eibach pro-kit that should go on my stock shocks and my ride should not be that stiff. is this true? is it nessecary to buy sport shocks? [/quote']

Many on this forum have Eibach springs and if you have the money go for the shocks too. If not then do not worry too much as they are right that the ride is not too different.

i plan to get 16" rims and 205/50 tires' date=' would this fit?? we have the worst roads in the world so bigger profile is necessary, (i know rs has 205/45). [/quote']

It should fit, but the cars odometer will be out as it is set for the total circumfrence of the wheel to be a certain length. going for 205/50 tyres will increase this length and alter the speed reading.

also i want to upgrade my brakes so what would you recommend for me? I would like to do chip tuning and replace injectors' date=' i know where to get chip tuning but i dunno what injectors do i need? maybe from octavia?[/quote']

To upgrade the brakes just get better pads and brake fluid as to improve the calipers wouldmean changing the suspension strut and would not be worth it for the gains so I have been told.

To chip the car would be more than enough, 100 bhp/ps (75kw) can be chipped to around 140bhp/ps (105kw) wothout any need to upgrade the injectors

are there any web stores with skoda equipment that would ship to serbia(europe)? are there any other skoda forums on english language?

The only ones that I know of is UK based' date=' so the cost would be prohibitive. Look in the links section for the ones known to us although I think all of them are in the UK or use the internet to find one closer to home.

The only other English skoda forum that I know of the the official Skoda owners club GB website at [url']www.skoda-owners-club.org[/url]

First, thank you very much for quick and precise answer.

If not then do not worry too much as they are right that the ride is not too different

that's what i wanted to hear :) since i dont have money for new shocks

It should fit, but the cars odometer will be out

well this should not be problem because now with stock tires it shows 9% higher speed than it is(it says 109 kph, radar says 100)

To chip the car would be more than enough,

i guess this question has been asked more times, but would it shorten the life of the motor too much without bigger injectors? here, we have the dirtiest diesel fuel in europe so is it good idea to chip my fabia?

I take it you have the PD100 engine. This is similar to both the 130 and 150 engines, so it should be able to handle the power easily enough, as there are more than a few on here who have done it with theirs. The engine will last over 300.000Km if it is looked after and this will not change by much.

The car has a filter in it to clean out the diesel before it gets to the injectors anyway, so only the odd squirt of injector cleaner when you fill up with diesel every now and again will be enough I should think.

As I have never been to Serbia and tried the diesel, it may be better to ask the company you were going to use to chip the car as well.
