Favorit (and Felicia, Fabia?) heater valve leak fix.

Featured Replies

For anyone running or maintaining a Favorit (my daughter's got my old one!) and is having problems with a water leak from the heater valve - I offer this service f.o.c.. The heater may also be shared with the Felicia and Fabia models, so it may also apply to them.

A water leak from the joint face between the heater valve and heater is probably due to the valve face becoming bowed over time. Examination of valves on samples in breakers yards showed that the problem of distortion is common (but may not allways result in a leak). I've made a mandrel so I can true the joint face in a lathe, and have a spare restored valve. If anyone experiences this problem they can send me their old valve and a stamped addressed envelope, and I'll send a recycled valve.

I'm now running a RS, but still have a fondness for Favorites - so let's keep them running and on the road!

Felicia is similar, Fabia entirely different. The good thing on the Felicia and Favorit is you don't have to remove the dash to get to the heater matrix.
