Adjusting Estate Boot Lid

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know how to adjust the boot lid stops on the estate?

Mine requires a real slam to fully close and I'd like it to be more of a gentle close, save the glass from being broken >)

I can see the stops on both sides, but they don't seem to turn....

Anyone does these before? Cheers.

It's the latch on the car itself you need to adjust-take off the trim panel along the load area opening (by the bumper) and adjust latch-two TorX screws IIRC.

You need to slide the latch slightly upwards, towards you.

Cracking job, thanks will give it a go!

Just had a go and yup, under the plastic cap that lifts up over the latch are 2 torx screws.

Adjusted and sooo much better. Closes with loads less force.

Cheers!

I suggest that you mark the initial positions using a pencil. Just to get an idea by how much you move the catch/striker plate.

Does anyone know if this adjustment is the same for the Mk1 estate?

I've got precisely the same problem... boot won't close unless it's really slammed (and checked by pulling up) Moreover it's not triggering the dash warning light, yet the boot courtesy lamps are on, eating the battery, and lamps get pretty hot too!
