Skoda vs Landrover

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just got myself a new Fabia Estate Greenline 2. Why would I do that when I own a Landrover Discovery 3 you may ask? Well it does more than twice the mpg than the D3 saving me £1,000's over a year and it's also a company car costing me little in personal tax and saving my company a nice chunk of 'green' tax, it will have paid for itself in 3 years and still have residual value so from that point of view it's a win-win all round. I don't suffer from badge snobbery and Skoda's have improved massively over the last 10 years, so I thought it would be worth a punt. I'm keeping the D3 for leisure use, extreme weather and towing my tintent.

Looking at running it for 3 years/approx to 60,000 miles before looking at options to change, so will be interesting to see how I get on with it, not run around in the snow on 2WD for a while so will have to re-learn those slippery skills. Put around 450 miles on it so far this week and running it in using up to around 3500 rpm I'm impressed with it's responsiveness given it's only a 1.2 engine, handling is good for bumpy, potholed British roads and load space is excellent for such a small car, and had favourable comments from a full load of adults already. Should get around 550 miles out of the first tank, but I am lead footing it a bit until it's run in, so will be expecting 600+ miles out of a tank eventually.

See ya around,

GL2.
