My Yeti is finally complete

Featured Replies

After spending the last two days at James with Allams Skoda of Epsom my Yeti now has a lovely fully detachable Westfalia towbar! Was dark and wet when I got him but I saw the flap, took it off, looked at the 13pin connector and drove home. The towbar itself weighs a ton! Hehehe I carried it indoors to look at its manual. All in all it was £835. Not cheap but not four digits like some outfits charge. And the best bit is that SUK paid for most of it! I got £250 for the electric seat debacle and £300 for my car having taken 33 weeks to be delivered. I'll post pictures later.

Great stuff. But as you said, it aint cheap. I have a few months to sort out mine.

Mike

My 170 4x4 Steel Grey Elegance SM is due to arrive at dealer Monday so havent got long to wait.

am also going to get towbar fitted was there any reason you went for the westfalia set up?

only asking as never had a towbar on any previous car and looking to tow a caravan in near future.

It is the official Skoda towbar for the Yeti complete with a special space for it in the foam box under the spare wheel - in the old box anyway, not figured out if my box has this space anymore since I think it looks different to TP's pictures. I'll know soon enough.

But just do a search for "towbar" and you'll find lots of opinions on all the other types of towbars you can get, eg fixed towbars with exposed sockets.

Was that for twin electrics or single?

13 Pin single electrics, since I won't be towing a caravan.

Johann,

The detachable bit does fit in the bottom box that came with your car.

The 13 pin single connector does support all the stuff you would need for a caravan - you do not need tw connectors for that, just a modern caravan :giggle: You should have received a 7-pin adapter with the hook to fit a simple trailer - I did.I do believe that adapter also has a spot in the plastic box, but I havn't been down there for a while, and you about us old folks and memory

Since I also do not intend to go caravan camping, I always start out with the utility trailer from Home, so do not keep the hook in the Yeti, but in the garage.

Thanks Jesper. That towbar weighs a ton and will add 2mpg to my fuel consumption on its own I'm sure! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif So it will stay at home too I suspect since it will only come out for the Atera rear mounted bike rack and when I rent a trailer every now and then for this and that. Alas I did not get the 13 to 7 pin converter (and when I looked at the Allams quote just now, saw that it was not quoted for). Not an issue. They are easy to find.

I was expecting to see a towbar shaped space like this in the box (and yes I know this a 1,2 petrol engined car's box):

But I guess my box looks like TP's old one and thus the bar fits in there somehow:

In the blue one the tow hook fits in the left plastic thing. And in the red one it fits above the jack, diagonally.

Thanks Graham. I will have a play with it at some point when it is not dark and/or snowing!

Johann, the snow has obviously got to me. I meant the right hand box. You can see the shape pressed into the plastic
